Dr. Bill Comiskey, N.D., is the forerunner of this new spa concept in the United States and Canada. The original formula was designed as a treatment for skin cancer. Vinatherapy is also used in spa body, facial, and pedicure treatments as well as in massage and baths.
Plant antioxidants work as singlet and triplet oxygen quenchers., free radical scavengers, peroxide decomposers and enzyme inhibitors. The specific grape used in our treatments contains the highest levels of ellagic acid, a substance shown to inhibit the growth of abnormal cells.
The University of Mississippi discovered that the grapes used in our Vinatherapy treatments contain a higher concentration of zinc, iron and calcium than any other fruit. Studies at the University of Georgia also found the grapes used in our treatments contain the highest levels of ellagic acid and total antioxidants than any other fruit. Our Vinatherapy treatments contain a large variety of phytonutrients with antioxidant properties including: vitamins, polyphenols, cartenoids, and flavonoids. Sun damaged and aging skin is particularly suited to Vinatherapy treatments. These treatments removes dead skin cells, deeply hydrates, and fades age spots due to over exposure to the sun. The antioxidants also prevent the destruction of hyaluronic acid and glucaronic acid as well as protection of collagen and elastin.
